Plain Sawn — the traditional look: dramatic “cathedral” arches and swirls. The most affordable cut, and the one that moves most with seasonal humidity.
Live Sawn — European thru-cut. One plank mixes cathedral grain down the center with straight, ray-flecked edges, showing the tree’s full character. Very stable, which is why it comes in the widest planks.
Rift & Quartered — straight, tight, uniform grain with the shimmering ray flecks white oak is prized for. The most stable cut and the most expensive, because it yields the least from each log.

Why 10% extra flooring is necessary
End-of-row & edge cuts — planks get trimmed where the floor meets walls, doorways, and closets. Short offcuts often can’t be reused.
Complex room geometry — diagonal walls, alcoves, stairs, and pillars mean more trimming and more unusable scrap.
Defective or damaged material — factory defects, warped boards, or a wrong cut can leave you short mid-install. This is normal, and a few extra boxes keep your project on track — without them, exact-match replacement product can take several weeks to arrive.
Future repairs — a spare box or two gives you matching pieces if boards get scratched or water-damaged later. Dye lots change over time, so an exact match is hard to buy down the road.

Solid white oak, 9 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick, milled tongue and groove on all four sides and kiln dried before it ships.
Cut straight through the log in the European manner, so a single plank carries cathedral, rift and quartered grain at once. Knots and mineral streaks are part of the look, not a defect in it.
Select & Better grade keeps colour consistent and leaves out most knots and mineral streak, so the floor reads as one field rather than a patchwork.
It ships unfinished, so the stain and sheen are decided on site after the floor is down and sanded — the only way to match an existing floor exactly.
Random lengths run 2 to 10 feet. Each box covers 28.7 square feet.
Nail or staple down over an approved wood subfloor. Solid wood is not rated for below-grade installation.
