Why 10% extra flooring is necessary

• End-of-row & edge cuts — planks get trimmed where the floor meets walls, doorways, and closets. Short offcuts often can’t be reused.
• Complex room geometry — diagonal walls, alcoves, stairs, and pillars mean more trimming and more unusable scrap.
• Defective or damaged material — factory defects, warped boards, or a wrong cut can leave you short mid-install. This is normal, and a few extra boxes keep your project on track — without them, exact-match replacement product can take several weeks to arrive.
• Pattern matching — patterned layouts create more offcuts, requiring 15% additional flooring.
• Future repairs — a spare box or two gives you matching pieces if boards get scratched or water-damaged later. Dye lots change over time, so an exact match is hard to buy down the road.
